Each year MBA forms All Star teams to participate in tournaments outside of our normal league games. All Star teams are formed at the Pinto and Mustang levels only. Player selection is made with the goal of fielding the most competitive teams possible. The number of teams created will be determined by the Board each year; depending on available players, and with the recommendation of the managers at each level.
Players selected for the teams are expected to attend every practice, practice game, and tournament game. Families are asked to postpone vacations until after the end of the All Star season, which can start as early as Memorial Day and can run through early August. If a player has an unavoidable conflict during the All Star season, he or she can still be considered for the team in question at the discretion of its manager.
The selection process for players and managers can differ by age group. Regrettably, not every interested player/family is asked to participate. Careful consideration is given by those involved to create teams with the best chance for success. MBA puts forth tremendous effort to ensure that this selection process is fair and unbiased.
Pinto All Stars
At minimum, MBA fields an All Star team to participate in sanctioned PONY tournaments. When practical and near the end of the season the respective teams will be selected by Pinto league coaches with the voting administered by the Pinto Division Commissioner. All players selected to this team will play a minimum of two defensive innings per game. The All Star Manager will be selected by the Board of Directors.
Mustang All Stars
9U and 10U teams will be selected to participate in sanctioned PONY tournaments. When practical and near the end of the season the respective teams will be selected by Mustang league coaches with the voting administered by the Mustang Division Commissioner. All players selected to this team will play a minimum of two defensive innings per game. The All Star Manager will be selected by the Board of Directors.
MBA’s Maverick program is our highest level of competitive baseball for players in the Bronco and Pony divisions only (ages 11-14). Top players from each age group are selected during the evaluation process to represent MBA in the local competitive 680 league in addition to various local tournaments. Typically, MBA selects a total of 4 Maverick teams in the Spring season: 11U, 12U, 13U and 14U. All players are coached and selected by professional, paid coaches. In addition to local tournaments, the Spring 12U Maverick team will participate in a destination tournament in early Summer (Cooperstown, Omaha, etc.). Players selected for the Maverick program are typically charged additional registration fees. For questions about MBA’s Maverick program, please contact the league President.
